The third episode of the second season of Severance, titled Who Is Alive?, saw Patricia Arquette's character Harmony Cobel on the run from Kier after a disastrous meeting with Helena Egan, played by Britt Lower.

Cobel found herself stranded in an icy location, 238 miles away from a town named Salt's Neck. In her car, she had her mother Charlotte Cobel's breathing tube, one of the last remnants of the now-destroyed Kier Shrine.

After contemplating for a moment, she decided to return to Kier for another confrontation with Lumon's heir, Helena. Back in Kier, Cobel demanded to remain the head of the Severed floor and for Seth Milchick, portrayed by Tramell Tillman, to be removed from his position.

Helena disagreed and suggested they both approach the Board together. However, Cobel didn't trust her and fled once more, reports the .

It is assumed Cobel is heading back towards Salt's Neck, a location likely to gain significance as the TV+ series progresses. Fans have begun theorising about Salt's Neck and the town of Kier.

One viewer posted on X: "Salt's Neck. The first town name we've heard of outside of Kier #Severance."

The fact Salt's Neck doesn't exist in reality adds to the theory that both Kier and this new town could be enclosed within something created by Lumon.

The mysterious Kier town, known for housing Lumon Industries employees, has sparked wild theories among fans. One Reddit user speculated: "I have this suspicion that their whole town is another level of severance. Because no one left the whole town other than the senator."

Another chimed in with a theory: "I don't think the town is severed per se but I do think there's weight to the idea that the town is part of the overall Lumon experiment. I think it's highly controlled and full of surveillance and they have the ability within the town to control specific people."

A third fan added insight: "I just realized on a rewatch that Pips was started by or named after one of the Eagan CEOs."

However, not everyone agreed, as one viewer pointed out: "Lumon doesn't seem to be all knowing in terms of the day to days on the severed floor in season one."

"Sure there were cameras, but no one was really watching enough to know what they were doing season one. So if Lumon is this incompetent on the inside, why are we supposed to believe they could be all controlling throughout the town? " Meanwhile, another comment suggested a more philosophical approach: "The surest way to tame a prisoner is to let them believe they are free."

The show also hinted at connections between the town's name, Salt's Neck, and the reintegration process involving Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and Asal Reghabi (Karen Aldridge), which intriguingly used salt-like crystals.

While this could merely be a coincidence or a stylistic decision by the creators, it might also hint at the peculiar happenings.
