Opting to bat first, got off to a pretty decent start. 37 runs had already been scored off four overs. However, a double-wicket first over of left-arm spinner, Parunika Sisodia, was successful in putting the brakes on their charge. At the midway point, England were 73/2. From that point onwards, it was all India. England's downturn was initiated by Aayushi Shukla, who dismissed their top-scorer, Davina Perrin, for 45.
Shukla's second dismissal of the day was English skipper, Abi Norgrove. Sisodia conjured another round-the-legs before Vaishnavi Sharma ran through the opposition with three wickets in the 16th over. Only one boundary was scored in the last four overs as England ended up on 113 for the loss of eight wickets. Gongadi Trisha was the most-economical bowler from the Indian outfit, conceding only 18 in her four overs.
The opening due of Indian wicketkeeper-batter, G. Kamalini, and Trisha were off to a positive start; ending the powerplay with 44 runs on the board. Phoebe Brett provided the first breakthrough for England, with Trisha's off-stump pegged back. A 15-run Trudy Johnson over brought India closer to their target. The team hundred was up in the 14th over of the run-chase.
