Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the eighth budget of her tenure. There are a lot of expectations from this budget from the common man to the stock market. Market experts say that for the last few years, the trend of the stock market has changed on the day of the budget. If there is a decline in the market, then it also improves within some time. Despite this, if we look at the budget of the last five years, then twice on the day of the budget, there was a jump in the Sensex, and thrice on the day of the budget, there was a huge decline in the Sensex. It is difficult to say how the budget will affect the market this time. On the first day of the week, selling dominated the market. On the second day of the week, Tuesday, there was a jump in the Nifty and BSE index. On Wednesday, February 29, NSE Nifty closed 205.85 points higher and BSE closed 653.95 points higher. Due to the budget week, there is a stir in the market. If we look at the budget for the last five years, then the market has seen fluctuations between the budget speech.
Impact on the stock market
Experts say that in the year 2021, the stock market rose 21 percent on the day of the budget, while the biggest decline on the day of the budget was seen in the year 2020 when there was a decline of 2.4 percent during the budget. Last year, when the budget was presented on 23 July 2024 and the Finance Minister gave his speech on Capital Gains Tax, the BSE Sensex fell by 1200 points and the NSE index fell by 400 points, although later there was a recovery till the market closed. Siddharth Bhamare, Head of Research, Asit C Mehta Investment, said that the market has always been reacting to the budget, although it also takes the biggest events easily. The results of the 2024 general elections, which did not come as per the market estimates, led to a decline in the market, but later it improved before the market closed and in a few days investors and the market moved ahead of this event. I hope that this time too, the stock market will be affected sector wise on the day of the budget.
