US: A small plane crashed near a shopping center in north-east Philadelphia

Philadelphia: In Northeast Philadelphia, a tiny aircraft carrying two passengers crashed close to a retail center.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that a Learjet 55 crashed at around 6:30 p.m. when it was traveling from Northeast Philadelphia Airport to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will head the FAA’s investigation into the events.

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s governor, Josh Shapiro, said that he discussed the event with the mayor of Philadelphia and is carefully evaluating the circumstances.

“My team is in contact with @PhillyPD, @PhilaOEM, and @PhillyFireDept, and I’ve had a conversation with @PhillyMayor.” “As they respond to the small private plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia, we are providing all Commonwealth resources,” Josh Shapiro said on X.

On social media, the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management verified that a “major incident” had taken place at the collision scene.

“Serious incident across from Roosevelt Mall in Northeast Philadelphia, close to Cottman and Bustleton Avenues. Parts of Roosevelt Boulevard and other nearby roads are blocked. The Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management posted on X, “Avoid area.”

The New York Times reports that social media footage showed burning cars and a sizable police emergency reaction.

According to the New York Times, there is currently no information available about casualties.
