In the fourth Twenty20 International between India and England, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav praised his team’s efforts after they first recovered from a slump at 12/3 to win by 15 runs in Pune.

India took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series after successfully bowling England out for 166 runs in 19.4 overs while defending their score. After Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya saved the squad from severe difficulty, Suryakumar showered them with adulation.

The hosts were reduced to 79/5 after losing the first three wickets in only the second over of the match, which was delivered by Saqib Mahmood. However, Pandya and Dube steadied the batting and guided the hosts to 181/9.

“After 12/3, we didn’t want to return. It was excessive to take three wickets in one over. Following India’s victory by 15 runs, Suryakumar said, “Hardik and Dube demonstrated their experience in a great way.”

“This is one thing we’ve been talking about — expressing yourself and batting the same way as in the nets,” the captain of India said, emphasizing the team’s intentions. I believe that we are headed in the correct way.

Both Shivam Dube (53 off 34) and Hardik (53 off 30) fashioned an 87-run partnership for the sixth wicket, smashing their respective half-centuries. But in the last over, Dube was hit on the helmet and removed, making space for Harshit Rana’s surprising but ideal T20I debut.

“After the powerplay, I was certain that we could dominate the game. We took a few of wickets. Harshit Rana arrived as the third seamer after refreshments and did a good job,” Suryakumar said.

With three wickets each, Harshit and Ravi Bishnoi were the Men in Blue’s best bowlers, although Varun Chakravarthy also took a few wickets.

India will want to increase their advantage when they play the fifth and final Twenty20 International match in Mumbai on Sunday after winning yet another series at home.
