Two actors began their Bollywood journey in 1996 with the film Dastak. While one of them became a star the other struggled to find success in the industry. The actors in discussion are Sushmita Sen and Sharad S. Kapoor. Sushmitas career took off after her debut whereas Sharad struggled to establish himself. In the film Sharad played a romantic hero a role that did not align well with his personality. Over the next few years he delivered several flop films leading to a sharp decline in his career.
Sharad Kapoor often made headlines more for his personal life than his professional journey particularly after marrying Koel Basu the granddaughter of former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu.
Despite appearing in over 43 films alongside superstars like Salman Khan Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan his career never reached the heights he had envisioned. Kapoor did not come from a film background.
He had to convince his family to allow him to move to Mumbai to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor. In 1993 Sharad moved to Mumbai and began his journey struggling and wandering the streets of the city in search of opportunities.
After facing numerous setbacks Sharad Kapoor finally secured a minor role in the TV serial Swabhimaan. He then came under Mahesh Bhatts radar who offered him a lead role in Dastak.
Although Sharad Kapoor delivered many flop films in his career he is known for his roles in movies such as Jai Ho Tamanna Lakshya and Josh.
