Recently, a video of singer Udit Narayan went viral, sparking a stir, where he was seen kissing his fans on the lips as they approached him for selfies during his live performance of Tip Tip Barsa Paani. However, now Udit defended himself, stating that he is not "ashamed" of the incident and instead calls it a "manifestation of love between him and his fans."
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the singer said, "Why would I do something now at this stage of my life when I have achieved it all? People all over the world throng to my concerts. Tickets are pre-sold months in advance. There is a deep pure and unbreakable bond between my fans and I. What you saw in the so-called scandalous video was a manifestation of the love between my fans and I. They love me. I love them back even more."
Further, Udit Narayan said that it is not something "sleazy or secret," as the video is in the public domain, and he believes his heart is pure. "If some people want to see something dirty in my act of pure affection, then I feel sorry for them. I also want to thank them," he added.
Udit shared that due to the video, he has become more famous and he aspires to get the Bharat Ratna, like his idol Lata Mangeshkar, and added that he doesn't care about people who cannot bear to see others succeed.
Udit also questioned the conspiracy to malign his reputation, stating that it seemed "suspicious" as the video was from a concert held months ago in the US or Canada. "I want to tell the mischief mongers: the harder you try to pull me down, the higher I will go," he concluded.
