Jhon Duran follows Steven Gerrard example after Saudi switch to leave 600-mile commute

Jhon Duran is ready to make a 600-mile commute from Bahrain to his new home at club Al-Nassr.

The striker has just completed a move from to the Middle East, which has banked the outfit £70million. The Colombian though has informed Al-Nassr that he wants to base himself in Bahrain, which is a well travelled route.

In the past , who this week left Al-Ettifaq as manager, and both chose to live outside of Saudi Arabia. Al-Nassr's training ground is on the outskirts of Riyadh and more than 300 miles away from Bahrain.

A scheduled flight from Bahrain International Airport to the capital Riyadh takes one hour and 20 minutes, which will leave Duran with plenty of travel every week. His decision to live outside of Saudi is motivated by confusion over whether he would be permitted to live with his girlfriend, reports .

Duran becomes the latest player to swap the Premier League for the riches on offer in the Middle East. Not only have Villa cashed in but the player himself will earn a massive wage. Per year he'll be banking a tax-free salary of £16.7m.

Since his debut in January 2023, Duran scored more goals as a substitute than any other Premier League player. He is poised to be replaced by with Villa pursuing a loan deal for the outcast.
