Noel Tata led Tata Motors a leading Indian automobile manufacturer with a diverse portfolio spanning ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and EV (Electric Vehicle) segments reported a 7% decline in domestic sales in January 2025.
The auto major dispatched 86125 units in January 2024. Total domestic sales declined 7 per cent year-on-year to 78159 units last month as compared to 84276 units in the year-ago period Tata Motors said in a statement.
Total commercial vehicle sales stood at 31988 units last month as compared to 32092 units in January 2024.
Passenger Vehicle Sales
The company’s total passenger vehicle (PV) sales including electric vehicles stood at 48076 units in the domestic market reflecting a 10% drop compared to 53633 units sold in January 2024 as reported by NDTV Auto.
Exports also witnessed a significant decline plunging by 40% to just 240 units compared to 400 units exported during the same period last year.
In total the combined PV sales (domestic + exports) for Tata Motors reached 48316 units marking an 11% decrease from 54033 units sold in January 2024.
Electric Vehicle Sales
Tata Motors known for offering the widest range of electric vehicles in India reported a 25% decline in EV sales. The company sold 5240 EVs in January 2025 compared to 6979 units sold in the same month the previous year.
Tata Motors on Saturday said its total vehicle dispatches declined 7 per cent year-on-year to 80304 units in January.
Tata Motors EV Lineup
Tata Motors boasts the largest range of EVs in the Indian market catering to diverse segments with models such as Tiago.ev Tigor.ev Nexon.ev Punch.ev and Curvv.ev.
The automaker is gearing up to expand its EV lineup with the highly anticipated launch of the Tata Harrier.ev an electric SUV under development for a while. The Harrier.ev was recently showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 signaling Tata Motors’ commitment to the EV market.
In addition to its electric offerings Tata Motors has a strong presence in the ICE vehicle market with popular models Tiago Tigor Nexon Punch and Curvv Harrier and Safari.
