A 15-year-old boy who died after allegedly being stabbed at a school in Sheffield on Monday has been named.

South Yorkshire Police said it responded to reports of a stabbing All Saints Catholic High School on Granville Road this afternoon.

On Monday night, the boy was named locally as avid Sheffield United fan Harvey Willgoose.

Classrooms were reportedly put into lockdown while police and paramedics rushed to the scene. A message sent by the school to parents and guardians read: "Students will be released when police give permission."

Assistant Chief Constable Lindsey Butterfield said the investigation was at an early stage. The boy had "suffered serious injuries" and died a short time later, despite the efforts of the emergency services, she added.

Another boy, also 15, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Butterfield said.
