Together with the National Medicos Organization and the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), the Social Welfare Department has organized a unique pandal along the banks of the Sangam as part of its initiatives. This program seeks to provide impoverished populations—especially the elderly and the disabled—the critical assistance they need.

The government said that the Shravan Kumbh, which has been helping thousands of individuals with hearing problems by giving tests and assistive gadgets, is one of the important elements of this effort.

“The Yogi Adityanath administration has established a separate camp for the elderly and hearing-impaired for the first time in Maha Kumbh. “Those in need can receive free tests and assistive devices at this camp, which was established by the Social Welfare Department,” the statement said.

By guaranteeing that they have access to essential services throughout the Kumbh Mela, the government emphasized that this program has greatly improved the welfare of the elderly, particularly those from state-run old-age homes. A 100-bed ashram has been built in the Kumbh region to house senior devotees, providing specific accommodations so they may remain comfortable and take part in holy events like the Sangam Snan.

The Maha Kumbh has so far attracted around 500 senior people from districts like Mirzapur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Bhadohi, Kaushambi, Hardoi, Sitapur, and Lucknow. By February 26, the government intends to make Amrit Snan accessible to 2,000 senior believers.

Asim Arun, Minister of State for Social Welfare, emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to protect older persons’ health, safety, and dignity.

He said, “The double-engine government is constantly working for the health, safety, and respect of senior citizens throughout the state.”

At the Triveni Sangam, where millions of pilgrims assemble every day, the Maha Kumbh, which started on January 13 and is scheduled to last until February 26. Nearly 35 crore devotees had visited the Sangam by Monday night, and the administration anticipates that by February 26 there would be over 50 crore. Two significant bathing occasions, Maghi Purnima and Mahashivratri, are anticipated to draw even more visitors.
