Meet Akash Bobba , a 22 year old engineer of Indian origin who is set to join Elon Musk as a part of the US DOGE or the Department of Government Efficiency .
Akash is among the six engineers who have been selected to be a part of this ambitious team, which comprises youngsters between 19 and 24 years of age. The others in this list are Luke Farritor, Ethan Shaotran, Edward Coristine, Gavin Klinger, and Cole Killian.
Akash is a UC Berkeley alumni and as part of this prestigious organisation he was enrolled into Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology program. According to his LinkedIn profile (which is currently not available) cited by reports, Akash has worked with tech giants like Meta and Palantir, as well as at the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates .
"Bobba was an investment engineering intern at the Bridgewater Associates hedge fund as of last spring and was previously an intern at both Meta and Palantir. He was a featured guest on a since-deleted podcast with Aman Manazir, an engineer who interviews engineers about how they landed their dream jobs, where he talked about those experiences last June," the WIRED reported. Both Bobba and Coristine are listed in internal OPM records as “experts” at OPM, the media outlet reported. OPM refers to the United States Office of Personnel Management. The report also mentions, citing a source, that Bobba along with the young engineers have working emails with the US General Services Administration "which means that they work out of the agency’s top floor and have access to all physical spaces and IT systems."
The Department of Government Efficiency has been set up with a view to modernize Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity. According to the White House, each DOGE Team typically consists of a DOGE Team Lead, an engineer, a human resources specialist, and an attorney. Agency Heads must ensure that DOGE Team Leads collaborate with USDS and provide guidance to their respective Agency Heads on executing the President’s DOGE Agenda.
