Liverpool announces transfer after close of window with debut imminent

Liverpool has confirmed the departure of young goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek Mrozek, who spent last season with Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna joins fourth-tier side Forest Green Rovers.

The 21-year-old joined academy in 2020 from FC Wroclaw and is a Poland youth international. He has been in the matchday squad for the senior team previously at Anfield but has not yet made his debut.

Mrozek was among the substitutes last season for Europa League encounters against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Sparta Praha but will now get his taste of senior football at Forest Green.

Mrozek hours after signing as his new club took on Dagenham and Redbridge. He joined the club after former goalkeeper Jed Ward returned to Bristol Rovers.

Manager Steve Cotterill said: "He is a young man from one of the top clubs in Liverpool. Let's hope he can do as well as some of the other young loans we have had. He has good pedigree and we believe he can do well."

Liverpool had been keen for the youngster to get some senior minutes, with the likes of Vitezslav Jaros and Harvey Davies ahead of him in the pecking order, behind and Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool had a quiet January window and opted not to make any additions to bolster Arne Slot's squad. There were a couple of late departures with Kaide Gordon joining Portsmouth

However, and he will stay with Liverpool for treatment before joining the Black Cats in the quest to be promoted back to the Premier League.
