Devotees attending the present Maha Kumbh will be able to travel for free on three special trains that the Goa government has said would run from the coastal state to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. On February 6, at 8 AM, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the first special train will leave South Goa’s Margao railway station.
According to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the other two special trains would leave Margao on February 13 and 21. With service just between Goa and Prayagraj, each train will carry close to 1,000 people. Devotees would get free rail transportation and meals while traveling, according to State Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai. He also said that it will take 34 hours for the trains to arrive in Prayagraj.
According to Minister Subhash Phal Desai, devotees would be in responsible of making their own travel and lodging arrangements once they arrive in Prayagraj. Passengers must board the return train from Prayagraj 24 hours later, he said. Only those between the ages of 18 and 60 who do not have serious health conditions would be able to ride on the trains, which are run under the Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Yojana, he said.
