Bengaluru: The tourism department’s high-level committee has given the green light to 27 major projects worth Rs 793 crore, including the construction of a grand Taj Hotel with 99 rooms in Hampi and ropeway projects at 11 locations, including Madhugiri monolithic hill. This was announced by Tourism Minister H. K. Patil during a press conference on Tuesday.
Minister Patil stated that these projects were approved under the Tourism Policy 2020-26. A total of 28 proposals were submitted, of which 27 have been approved. Among these are two mega projects, each with an investment exceeding Rs 100 crore.
The Taj Group will establish a large hotel with a capacity of 99 beds in Hampi. Additionally, a state-of-the-art air dome will be constructed near Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, with an investment of Rs 100 crore. This facility will be designed to host international-level conferences, summits, and symposiums.
Key projects approved:
The minimum investment required for these projects is Rs 5 crore. Subsidies range from a minimum of 15% up to Rs 2 crore. For projects with investments exceeding Rs 10 crore, the subsidy can go up to 15% or a maximum of Rs 5 crore.
The projects are expected to create around 4,000 direct jobs, significantly boosting the state’s tourism infrastructure and economy.
