ITV's Good Morning Britain halted over tragic breaking news announcement

Presenter interrupted today with an urgent news update. The ITV host shared some breaking news as she announced that a 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Harvey Willgoose who was stabbed to death at a school in Sheffield on Monday.

The studio flashed a breaking news banner behind Charlotte, who was dressed in a hot pink blazer dress, as she explained that the suspect could not be named because of his name. However, he has "also been charged with posession of a bladed article and one count of affray."

She added: "He will appear at juvenile youth court later today. The has issued a warning that criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that the youth has the right to a fair trial.

"It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commenting or sharing of information online which could, in any way, prejudice the proceedings."

Some fans of the ITV show were devastated by the news, and touched by the fact that a teenager had lost his life. Posting to X/Twitter, one viewer wrote: "What is going on with all these stabbing's of very young people they are children from 11 to 16 year olds, they are children."

Another added: "Blimey, it's just a shame, innit? Kids should be in the classroom learning, not in court - what on earth's happened to this world?"

One more said: "It's heartbreaking to hear about such a tragedy, especially in our own backyard. We've got to do better for our young people-violence isn't the answer, and it's time we all stepped up."

Harvey died after the incident at All Saints Catholic High School, in Granville Road, at about 12.17pm on Monday. On Tuesday afternoon, Harvey's mother Caroline and other family members visited the school where flowers, balloons and cards have been left for the popular pupil.

After the visit, they released a statement saying: "We are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful boy, 'Harvey Goose'."

Harvey's sister Sophie ssaid her heart is "broken into a million pieces" after his death.

She wrote on Facebook: "My heart is broken into a million pieces. I love you so much Harvey... Hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight cos I wish I could."
