'Symphoria,' the annual flagship literary event organised by the English Literary Association (ELA) of Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce (SCAC), will be held on February 7 and 8 this year. This year’s theme, 'Exploring Subcultures,' delves into the diverse and dynamic communities that shape cultural identities, from punk rockers to gothic enthusiasts.

The two-day event features an engaging lineup of activities designed to encourage creativity and intellectual discourse. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in debates, writing competitions, theatrical performances and interactive challenges.

The first day will begin with the inauguration, featuring discussions with author Dr Sharankumar Limbale and actor Bhushan Pradhan. This will be followed by a cultural competition, where students will display their talents. The pièce de résistance of the first day is the literary debate, ‘Defending the Villains,’ which will challenge participants to argue in favour of misunderstood fictional antagonists. Other events on day one include the writing competition, ‘Switch it Up,’ which will test adaptability and creativity as participants collaboratively craft stories. The monologue competition, ‘Voices of the Void,’ will encourage performers to embody and bring fictional characters to life. The ‘Scavenger Hunt’ will test problem-solving skills as teams race to uncover hidden clues across the campus.

On Day 2, the drama competition, ‘Scenes in Sync,’ will provide a platform for theatrical talent to shine, while 'Guess the Drawing' will let participants craft compelling stories based on illustrated panels. ‘The Escape Room’ and ‘Murder She Wrote’ events will challenge teams to solve mysteries through a thrilling multi-stage adventure. The ‘Open Mic’ session will invite poets and storytellers to share their creative works in an engaging atmosphere.

Additionally, Symphoria 2025 will feature an author’s meet, 'Vision and Verse,' where accomplished writers such as Dr R Raj Rao, Kavita Kané, Dr Manohar Jadhav and Dr Sadanand Bhosale will interact with attendees, sharing their experiences and insights. The ‘Fandom Fusion Quiz’ will allow participants to showcase their knowledge of literature and pop culture, while a specially curated open-air film screening will offer a cinematic perspective on literary themes.

With its diverse range of events and a focus on both literary and cultural exploration, Symphoria 2025 promises to be a thought-provoking and enriching experience for all attendees.
