Sky Sports News reporters Nick Powell and Sarah Wieczorek have received praise for their bilingual coverage of Tottenham's new signing Mathys Tel. The promising young striker was snapped up by Spurs on deadline day amidst interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

In a display of linguistic dexterity that captivated viewers, the Sky Sports duo kept audiences in the loop with updates in both English and German. As Sky Germany's Wieczorek and English presenter Powell, who is retiring this month after 43 years in the media, flawlessly switched between languages, they drew widespread adulation on social media for giving the lowdown on Tel's transfer to the

One fan took to X and said: "Very very impressive. Can only imagine how hard it is to speak in both languages, interact with each other and probably have a director speaking in your ear at the same time. Absolutely class". Another said: "Amazing! Should do this more often!"

A third commented: "Well done, @SkySportsNews. And well spoken Nick and Sarah. Please let's have more such bilingualism on our screens." And a fourth wrote: "That's impressive! Dual language broadcasting like this takes serious skill."

While the section has been hailed for its ingenuity, it's not the first time the broadcasting giant has attempted such a feat. Fans were quick to heap praise on Sky Sports' Natalie Gedra for her impressive interview with Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez earlier in the season, as she spoke in both English and Spanish to translate her discussion with the Uruguayan star.

That segment also struck a chord with fans, as one viewer took to YouTube saying: "Having this new Sky reporter is brilliant. She essentially unlocks all the Spanish and South American players that we rarely get to hear from. She's fantastic."

Tel's move to Spurs was an incident-packed switch. While the youngster was rumoured to have his pick of top Premier League clubs, after informing Bayern Munich he wanted a move before the deadline, the Lilywhites moved ahead of rivals Arsenal and United with the clock ticking on deadline day.

Initially he turned down the move, but he eventually succumbed to Ange Postecoglou's allure and joined on loan. Spurs have the option to make his stay permanent in the summer.

Arsenal appeared to be the frontrunners to sign him but backed off, with the Gunners reportedly preferring a traditional striker rather than someone who favours playing from the left. The Athletic report that Bayern's demand for a £5m loan fee was too steep for Ruben Amorim's side, despite United searching for a new forward following Marcus Rashford's loan transfer to Aston Villa.
