Bengaluru: A case of financial fraud involving a fake tour package for the Mahakumbh and Ayodhya visit has been reported in Bengaluru. According to the complaint, the incident began on January 18, when the victim received a phone call from a company named "Rakesh Subramanya Tours." The caller claimed to offer a tour package to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh festival at a cost of ₹64,000.
The caller provided an account number for payment, and the victim, initially convinced, proceeded to make the payment. However, when the victim attempted to confirm the details later, calls to the company went unanswered. Sensing something was wrong, the victim contacted the Cyber Crime Helpline in 1930 and reported the issue.
The complaint was formally registered. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and further action is being taken to track down the perpetrators of this fraudulent scheme.
In a separate incident, a case has come to the fore in Bengaluru where a vegetable vendor was issuing a bill for your purchases on a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus ticket roll. When the BMTC was informed about the news, a member disguised as a civilian traced the vendor in Yelanhanka and caught him red-handed. Though he claimed to have found the rolls on the roadside, the question arises: where did he get the machine that uses those rolls to issue bills?
Dressed as a civilian, the BMTC member purchased some vegetables from the vendor. In return, he received a bill with the civic body on it, including the name of the utility and image of the mythical two-headed Gandabherunda bird. He immediately caught the vendor and asked him about possessing the rolls and the electronic ticketing machine (ETM). According to officials, the accused vendor used his machine to issue the bills.
After that, the transport authority filed a complaint with Yelahanka New Town police, seeking an investigation into how its ticket rolls ended up there.
