Rohan Murty the son of Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy has made a distinctive identity in the tech world. Born into an inspiring household Rohan grew up with a passion for programming and innovation which ultimately led him to pursue his own entrepreneurial journey.
Rohan Murty Education And Early Life
Rohan was raised in Bangalore and completed his schooling at Bishop Cotton Boys School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Cornell University and later pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Harvard University specializing in opportunistic wireless networks. Influenced by his mother Sudha Murty a best-selling author Rohan developed a strong foundation in both technology and philanthropy.
From Infosys To Soroco
After serving as a Vice President at Infosys Rohan decided to leave the company to start his own venture. In 2014 he co-founded Soroco a digital transformation firm specializing in AI-driven automation alongside renowned computer scientists Arjun Narayan and George Nychis. Soroco focuses on cutting-edge technology and aims to revolutionize processes for businesses globally.
The company has experienced rapid growth in recent years targeting a $15 billion market opportunity that encompasses 500 million white-collar employees worldwide. According to a report by NelsonHall Vendor Evaluation & Assessment Tool (NEAT) Soroco generated top-line revenues of $18 million (approximately Rs 148 crore) in 2022 although the company has not officially confirmed this figure.
Under Rohan’s leadership Soroco is developing ambitious strategies to expand its market presence and drive profitability. With its focus on AI and automation the company is poised to be a transformative force in the tech sector.
Rohan Murty Stake In Infosys
As Narayana Murthy’s son Rohan inherited a 1.45% stake in Infosys which was valued at $80 billion in 2022. This made him the second-largest individual shareholder in the company. Despite his family legacy Rohan has chosen to focus on his entrepreneurial endeavors rather than simply continuing his father’s path.
Rohan recently celebrated a special family moment when his four-month-old son Ekagrah Murty received a gift of Infosys shares worth Rs 240 crore from Narayana Murthy.
