The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, home to Phu Quoc Island, is the only Southeast Asian destination featured in Booking.com’s list of the world’s 10 most welcoming places.
Other destinations on the list are Osijek-Baranja (Croatia), Kakheti (Georgia), Madeira (Portugal), Misiones (Argentina), Graubünden (Switzerland), South Australia (Australia), Bretagne (France), Baja California Sur (Mexico), and Drenthe (Netherlands).
The ranking is part of the Dutch-based travel agency’s annual Traveler Review Awards, which recognize 1.71 million accommodation partners, 1,329 car rental providers, and 124 taxi services across 212 countries and territories.
Based on over 360 million verified customer reviews, the awards honor travel partners that consistently provide outstanding hospitality and service, enhancing travelers’ experiences.
Kien Giang is home to popular tourist hotspots such as Ha Tien and Phu Quoc, known for their long sandy beaches and luxury resorts.
In 2024, the province welcomed more than 9.8 million visitors, including over 978,000 international arrivals, a 43.8% increase from the previous year.
