Three people in the Nishangada Range of the Katerniaghat Wildlife Division were brutally assaulted by a leopard that strayed from a sugarcane field into a populated area on Thursday, seriously injuring them.
The event happened at Katerniaghat’s Bhatha Bargadha Gram Panchayat when the locals saw the leopard wandering around Shrikishan’s farms.
Hundreds of people flocked to the area as soon as they saw the leopard. A resident named Sandeep’s home was the destination of the leopard’s unexpected escape from the sugarcane fields. People tried to capture the leopard inside the home as a result of the circumstance, which caused considerable fear. In the process, Sandeep, Ramakant, and Inder Dayal were all injured as the leopard attacked them fiercely.
A team from the forest department, including Nishangada Forest Officer Surendra Srivastava, Forest Guard Israr Ahmad, and Forest Staff Rajesh Kaushal, arrived to the location after local authorities were promptly notified. The forest crew used loud cries to drive the leopard away after a difficult operation.
After being taken to Sujoli’s main health facility, the wounded villagers were sent to Motipur’s community health center for further care. DFO B. Shiv Shankar promised that a forest team had been sent to the region for monitoring after the event and that the people had been told to be alert.
The surrounding population is terrified as a result of the occurrence, and the forest department is still keeping a careful eye on things.
