Indian Railways News: The Ministry of Railways recently launched a new super app called SwaRail in India. It has been introduced as a one-stop shop to offer public-facing services such as reserved ticket booking, ordering food in trains, and PNR inquiries. Currently, this app is available in beta on both Android and iOS platforms. The Swarail super app aims to reduce app clutter and space usage by eliminating the need to keep multiple apps to manage railway services on the phone.
SwaRail Superapp Features
Swarail Superapp has been developed by the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). According to the Ministry of Railways, it works as a one-stop solution. It also integrates all the public-facing apps of Indian Railways into a single platform. Through the Swarail SuperApp, users can book reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets, inquire about parcel and freight deliveries, track train and PNR status, order food in trains, and contact 'Rail Madad' for complaints and queries.
Currently, Indian Railways offers separate apps for ticket booking and inquiries about train movement and schedules. However, the Swarail SuperApp is said to be a unified platform that can be used to perform the above tasks directly from a smartphone.
PNR inquiry will also display train information
Citing an example, the Railway Ministry has also informed that PNR inquiry will also display relevant information about the train. It offers single sign-on functionality, allowing users to access all services with a single set of credentials. These can also be used in other Indian Railways apps - such as IRCTC Rail Connect and UTS mobile app. Additionally, users can also use their existing Rail Connect or UTS app credentials to access the app. It offers multiple login options including M-PIN and biometric authentication.
The app is currently available in beta on both Android and iOS platforms and users can register their feedback for its improvement. The Swarail superapp will be released publicly after thorough evaluation by the Ministry of Railways.
