ChatGPT on WhatsApp has received a new update. It can now analyze images and listen to users' voice messages. OpenAI launched the chatbot number of ChatGPT for Meta's instant messaging app in December 2024. During the launch, this chatbot allowed users to access ChatGPT and ask questions using text only. However, the chatbot on WhatsApp can now answer user questions made through images and voice messages or audio files.
The new update for the ChatGPT chatbot on WhatsApp is available globally and was first spotted by Android Authority. According to the report, the update allows the AI chatbot on WhatsApp to read images and audio files shared by users and answer questions based on them. However, the chatbot will only reply in text messages.
How to use ChatGPT on WhatsApp
To use ChatGPT on WhatsApp and converse with the AI chatbot using text, images, or audio files, follow these steps:
Save the official ChatGPT chatbot number +1-800-242-8478 on your phone.
After saving the number, relaunch your WhatsApp app.
Go to your contacts and search for the ChatGPT number saved on WhatsApp.
Open the chat and start your conversation.
You can chat with the ChatGPT chatbot via text. You can also share an image or send a voice message to ask a question.
Interestingly, users also tried speaking in Hindi and asked ChatGPT to transcribe the voice message. It responded correctly in Hindi. However, since the update is in its early stages, the chatbot is somewhat laggy.
Let us tell you that text and voice updates are not the only improvements that OpenAI is planning for the ChatGPT chatbot on WhatsApp. According to Android Authority, OpenAI is soon planning to allow WhatsApp users to sign in to their dedicated ChatGPT account through WhatsApp. If this is true, it will be easier for users to continue conversations and sync data with the ChatGPT app. However, it is not clear whether additional features will be introduced with this update.
