Turkish women’s volleyball is experiencing a golden era, and the rivalry between Fenerbahce Medicana, Eczacibasi Dynavit and Vakifbank has now extended beyond the court into the transfer market.
Major transfer rumors involving world-class players have sent shockwaves through the volleyball scene.
After failing to reach an agreement on a new contract, Baladin has decided to leave Eczacibasi, the club where she has played for the past 15 years. The Turkish star has reportedly given her verbal consent to join Fenerbahce for the next season.
While no official signing has taken place yet, Eczacibasi is making a last-ditch effort to retain its iconic player.
Hande rejected Eczacibasi’s two-year contract extension, opting instead for Fenerbahce’s one-year offer.
The 26-year-old outside hitter is believed to have long-term career plans beyond Türkiye, influencing her decision to leave her boyhood club.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce is also in talks with Vakifbank’s standout middle blocker, Zehra Gunes. Although no deal has been finalized, negotiations are reportedly progressing in a positive direction.
In response to Fenerbahce’s aggressive transfer strategy, Vakifbank has set its sights on Polish opposite hitter Magdalena Stysiak, currently playing for Fenerbahce.
Additionally, Fenerbahce is rumored to have reached an agreement with Polish middle blocker Agnieszka Korneluk, who plays for DevelopRes.
However, the club must reduce its current foreign player count from six to five to complete this move.
