New Delhi: Jomato has once again come into controversy. Let me tell you that recently the company had charged a vegetarian food order in the name of 'Veg Mode Enablement Fee', which spread resentment among the customers. At the same time, this matter became viral on social media, after which Jomato CEO Deepinder Goyal had to apologize in public.
The matter came to light when a customer named Rohit Ranjan shared his complaint through a post on LinkedIn. He posted a screenshot of his order and said that he was charged Rs 2 in the name of wedge mode charge. Ranjan called this charge 'luxury tax on vegetarian people'. He wrote, “Nowadays being a vegetarian in India sounds like a curse. Thank you Jomato, for proving that being a vegetarian is now a luxury.”
Reacting to the customer's complaint, Jomato CEO Deepinder Goyal called it 'stupidity' and immediately apologized. He said in his statement, “This was our fault and we are sorry for this. This fee has been removed from today. Such mistakes will not be made again. Has been in the recent increase in its platform charge, which has been criticized by the customers for separation. On the same, Jomato has assured to improve this incident as a challenge of customers.
