Under the direction of the Labor Department and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), an awareness event on the elimination of bonded labor and human trafficking was held at the DLSA office on Thursday.

Speaking during the event, District Principal Judge Gandham Sunitha said the program was conducted in accordance with the High Court’s directives. She emphasized that children who lost their parents during the COVID-19 outbreak received checks totaling Rs 60 lakh as compensation.

She called on all citizens to behave honorably and make contributions to the well-being of the community. Bonded labor has been totally eliminated from society, according to Assistant Labour Commissioner BSM Vali.

A number of contests were held to increase awareness of the problem as part of the Bonded Labour Eradication Day festivities. By giving them diplomas and prizes, the district judge congratulated the victorious pupils and urged them to keep working to comprehend and advance social justice.

Among those in attendance were District Public Transport Officer K. Sharmila Ashoka, District Tribal Welfare Officer K. N. Jyothi, and District Women and Child Welfare Officer K. Vijaya Kumari.
