Almost a decade after Swastika Mukherjee and Paoli were seen sharing the screen in Mainak Bhaumik’s Family Album , they are set to work together again in Arjunn Dutta ’s Bibi Payra . “This will be my third collaboration with Arjunn post Guldasta and Shrimati, and I couldn’t have asked for more to complete our hattrick,”
says Swastika.

Sharing the film’s storyline with us, Arjunn says, “The film follows two women who, faced with dire circumstances, take matters into their own hands to turn the tide in their favour. With limited resources, they not only risk their own safety but also put their allies in jeopardy as they attempt to break free from a vicious cycle. What ensues is a thrilling roller coaster of reckless decisions and unexpected events, plunging them and their companions into a tangled web of chaos.” He adds, “Will they succeed as planned, or will everything crumble is the question that builds the storyline.”
Paoli reveals that she was sure of being a part of this film from the moment she read the script. “The film is a dark comedy , something we don’t get to see often. I am excited since this will be the first time I will be exploring this genre. Such female driven roles are not written every day,” she says.
The film also features Anirban Chakrabarti, Anindya Sengupta and Subrat Dutt, to name a few, in pivotal roles.

A comedy of errors against a suburban setting
Bibi Payra also marks Anirban’s first collaboration with the filmmaker. “I said yes the moment Arjunn narrated the sketch of the film. The film is a real departure from his usual style,” says Anirban. Talking about why the film is going to be one-of-its-kind, Arjunn adds, “I’ve usually explored the urban setting in my films, but this will be a gripping comedy of errors set in the suburbs.”
