The devotees at Prayagraj’s Mahakumbh Mela were in a panic on Friday when a fire broke out in an open area in sector 18. The government, however, responded swiftly and declared that everything was under control. According to the authorities, rescue efforts are in progress and many fire engines are present at the location.

According Pakistani news agency PTI, the authorities told the followers not to worry and said that no injuries had been recorded. The fire is almost under control, according to Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi of the Khak Chowk police station.

A camp on Old GT Road close to Tulsi Chauraha caught fire. However, the Indian Express cited Chaturvedi as claiming, “Firefighters have managed to bring the blaze largely under control.” He said that officers from the fire department are also on the site to supervise the operation.

According to chief fire officer Pramod Sharma, the fire damaged over 15 tents, although no significant injuries have been recorded. He said that while it was difficult for the authorities to get to the scene due to the poor road, they were able to put out the fire in a matter of minutes, according to PTI. He said that authorities are looking into the cause of the incident.

The present Mahakumbh mela, which started on January 13 and will end on February 26, has seen three fire incidents recorded. A number of cylinder bursts were destroyed earlier this month in Sector 19 in the Mela district. People standing a few kilometers away could capture the explosion on their phones since it was so powerful.

Authorities said, however, that no casualties were recorded since the fire was put out right away. On January 25, two parked automobiles caught fire in the early hours of the day in Sector 2 of Mela Ground, causing another fire. Authorities did, however, guarantee that the fire was controlled and that no significant injuries had been recorded.
