Bihar was given a lot of attention in the Budget because of the November Assembly elections.

Patna Airport’s expansion, the construction of four additional greenfield airports, and the building of a brownfield airport at Bihta were all announced by Finance Minister Sitharaman. Interestingly, Sitharaman made many references to Bihar in his Budget address.

“Greenfield airports will be felicitated in Bihar to meet the future needs of the state,” Sitharaman had said in her budget address. These will be in addition to a brownfield airport at Bihta and the enhancement of Patna airport’s capacity.”

Additionally, she has brought attention to the Western Kosi Canal ERM project in Bihar’s Mithilanchal district.

“Financial support will be provided for the Western Kosi Canal ERM project benefitting a large number of farmers cultivating over 50,000 hectares of land in the Mithilanchal region of Bihar,” she said.

The Union Budget 2025 was earlier hailed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as a “progressive and forward-thinking” financial strategy that aims to speed up development at the state and federal levels.

Kumar had shown special gratitude for a number of Bihar-specific projects, such as the establishment of the Makhana Board, the construction of greenfield airports in Bihar, and the Western Kosi Canal Project in Mithilaanchal. He claimed that all of these would have a major impact on the state’s infrastructure development and economic growth.

“The Union Budget is positive and welcome,” CM had stated in a thorough post on X (previously Twitter). The Central Government’s budget is forward-thinking and progressive. The Central Government has taken a number of actions with this budget to quicken the nation’s development. The budget’s announcements for Bihar will hasten the state’s progress even further.

Makhana farmers will gain from the state’s creation of a Makhana Board to enhance Makhana production, processing, value addition, and marketing. The establishment of greenfield airports in Bihar to accommodate the state’s future demands would boost foreign travel, which will be very advantageous to the local population and hasten the state’s economic growth,” he said.
