If you reach somewhere by asking for directions from Google Maps, then you should be careful. Because Google Maps can also kill you. An example of this was seen in Kerala where two doctors lost their lives because of taking help from Google Maps. These two doctors of Kerala (Advait and Ajmal) worked in a private hospital and were returning to Kodungallur at night. Due to rain at night, they took the help of Google Maps to show the way and Google took them to the river. Both the doctors died due to drowning in water and three were injured, who are currently kept in the hospital.

However, this is not the first case when such an accident has happened due to Google Maps. In November 2024, a similar case came to light in Faridpur, Uttar Pradesh, when according to Google Maps, a car fell into the river from a half-constructed bridge and three people died. Even then there was a lot of uproar over how safe is the use of Google Maps. If you are a Google Maps user, then you must keep these 5 things in mind while using this app:

Keep these things in mind while using Google Maps.

1. Use a satellite view
If you are going to an address that you are not familiar with, then before leaving with Google Maps in hand, you must see its satellite view. There is a satellite view option in Google Maps, switch on it. With this you can understand the route well and can also identify potential dangers. In the satellite view, you will see incomplete bridges, poorly constructed roads or rivers and streams. Use this feature of Google Maps.

2. Do not choose a new route

Google Maps shows the option of many routes to reach a place. In such a situation, you should always take the route by which you have been coming and going often. Before taking a new route, definitely see its satellite view. If there is a shortage of time, then keep going on the old route, which you are familiar with.

3. Share real-time location

If you are going to a new place, then send the real time location of Google Maps to your friends or family. So that they can track you. Especially if you are going alone on a launch trip, then this can prove to be helpful from the security point of view.

4. Save maps offline

It is possible that in villages or during rain or fog, the signal may not work or your phone's GPS may not work. To avoid such a situation, download the map offline and keep it. Due to the internet and GPS not working properly, your map can take you to a place about which you do not know. It can also be a city of death.

5. Take help from local people

Although Google Maps is helpful most of the time. But still, just like humans, no technology is perfect. Especially in a country like India, navigation is not easy. Therefore, before getting stuck in an unknown place, you can get help from local people. Local people have good information about the construction around, the condition of the roads. Therefore, you get the right information from them.
