Steph McGovern has revealed she suffered a horrific injury while filming new series Celebrity Bear Hunt. The TV presenter is one of the stars appearing in the new show, which debuted on the streaming site on February 5.
Fronted by and Bear Grylls, Celebrity Bear Hunt sees 12 famous faces fend for themselves in the Costa Rican jungle while attempting avoid being caught by Bear. As well as Steph, other stars include , Boris Becker, , Mel B and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
Steph, 42, got caught up in a terrifying incident while filming the show, which saw hit her face off a cliff edge. Medics flocked to help her as she helplessly hung from her safety harness in harrowing scenes.
Speaking to , Steph recalled: "We had these amazing medics and everything. There was a moment where I literally fell off a cliff and smashed into a wall."
She went on to describe how she felt in the moment, adding: "I was just hanging there looking at... There was blood dripping off my face. I didn't overthink it. I just thought, they're not going to let me die.
"It was fine, it wasn't a big deal, it wasn't broken. They were just kind of checking me that I didn't have a concussion. I was a bit mad. You know these things sometimes that look more dramatic than they actually are?"
In the scenes, which are available to watch on Netflix now, Steph can be seen falling from a ledge during the challenge before swinging towards the rock. She expressed her hurt as her co-stars watched on in horror, with Holly reassuring the stars that medic were on their way to help.
While she survived the Costa Rican jungle, Steph actually sustained another injury upon returning home. She revealed she fell on ice and had to seek medical treatment recently, meaning she's now sporting a sling on her arm.
The TV favourite attended the Celebrity Bear Hunt premiere in London on 4 February sporting a black sling, which was wrapped across her wrist and arm.
