In the 1970s and 80s Bollywood was ruled by superstars like Amitabh Bachchan Dharmendra Vinod Khanna and Rajesh Khanna. Amidst this dominance a new actor made his entry into Bollywood and challenged other established stars of that era. Though the actor doesnt work as frequently today but his stardom remains just as powerful as it was in those years. Even today he is loved and adored by his fans. We are talking about none other than Mithun Chakraborty. He is one actor who has appeared in the highest number of box office flops but it never affected his stardom. He has given over 150 flops but still remained the first choice of filmmakers. In early 2000s there was a phase when the actor gave 33 flops in a row but that streak ended after he appeared in Guru (2007) which was a box office success. The reason for his superstardom despite starring in many flop films is that he had also given 50 hits which is the fourth-highest number for any actor. In 1982 when Disco Dancer released it made Mithun Chakraborty a superstar. Following that he never looked back and starred in superhit films like Shapath Loha Kaalia and Daadagiri. Although in 1999 Mithun failed to deliver any hit. His films like Sheram Ganga Ki Kasam and Aaag Hi Aag failed to perform well at box office but still it never affected his superstar status. Despite having a record of many flop films the actor still has a huge fan base. He is still worshipped by fans who remember his iconic dance moves and unforgettable dialogues. With a net worth of around $50 million (that’s about Rs 400 crore) Mithun Chakrabortys lifestyle reflects his superstar status. He owns multiple luxurious properties one in Madh Island and another in Ooty with a sprawling house in Mumbai. He also has a high-end collection of cars including Mercedes Benz 1975 Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
