Free Water & Electricity in Delhi: When Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi in the year 2015, his two schemes were the most discussed by 200 units of free electricity and 20,000 liters of free water and today when the results of the assembly elections are going to be revealed once again in Delhi after 10 years, Even then there is a discussion in Delhi whether both these facilities will continue after changing the government. Now schemes like free bus, widow pension, senior citizen pension, pilgrimage scheme are already operational in it and women are going to join the monthly allowance in it. After all, how many rupees are left every month from all these schemes of a common man…?
If you look at the electric tariff in Delhi, then in Delhi, the common people get free electricity up to 200 units, while the government gives a subsidy of 50% from 201 to 400 units. The tariff of electricity bill in Delhi is also a slab wise. In such a situation, up to 200 units, you have a charge of Rs 3 per unit and up to 500 units of Rs 4.50 per unit. In this, the fix charge, line and maintenance charge and GST are found separately.
If you look at only 200 units of electricity bill, then the common man would have to pay for at least 600 rupees electricity consumption, fix charge of 20 rupees meter and the remaining charges. It would go for about 800 rupees a month. Similarly, if your electricity consumption was up to 400 units, then this bill would have been made for Rs 1800 per month and the remaining expenses would have gone up to about 2100 rupees, but due to 50% subsidy of the government, it is made between 1100 and 1200 rupees. Apart from this, the bill of 200 units connect separately. So free electricity, if nothing, on an average of Rs 1,000 of every common man saves every month.
Similarly, the government in Delhi gives 20,000 liters of free water. Usually 500 to 600 liters of water is used every day in a family. In this way, most of the population of Delhi falls under this 20,000 liters of free water. If this facility was not there, how much money did you have to spend?
According to the tariff of Delhi Jal Board, you have to pay a bill of Rs 5.27 for every 1,000 liters in Delhi up to 20,000 liters. Also, you have to pay a sewer maintenance charge of Rs 146.41 meter and a sewer maintenance equal to 60% of the total bill. Now if you look at the calculation, then your water bill will sit for about 350 rupees a month. GST is not included in this yet.
But as soon as your water consumption goes beyond 20,000 liters, you will have to pay a charge of Rs 26.36 per 1,000 liters. It will also add a fixed charge of Rs 219.62 and you will also have to pay a sewer charge of 60 percent. Along with this, up to 20,000 liters of water bill and GST will also be added to it. In this way, the calculation of water bill of consumption up to 30,000 liters will be about 990 rupees. In this way, the subsidy of water bill also saves your an average of 500 rupees every month.
Since the 2019-20 assembly elections in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal's government is giving free bus service to women. The fare of Delhi buses has not increased for a long time. In such a situation, if you do calculations according to the daily pass of Rs 50 per day, then even after traveling 25 days a month, every woman survives at least Rs 1,250.
In such a situation, only 3 free schemes of the government save about Rs 2,500 to a common family every month. Apart from this, other benefits like free education in government schools in Delhi, free treatment in government hospitals, pilgrimage schemes, senior citizens, widows and disabled pension are also available to the common family. For these assembly elections, the current government of Delhi has promised to give an allowance of Rs 2,100 a month to women. At the same time, Congress and BJP have also said in elections to give Rs 2,500.
