In light of a worrying decline in form, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has advised captain Rohit Sharma to refrain from overcomplicating his batting.

Bangar thinks that in order to restore his rhythm, Rohit should concentrate on thinking back on his prior accomplishments rather than obsessively studying his technique or engaging in excessive practice sessions.

Bangar emphasized in an interview with Star Sports that Rohit would benefit far more from self-evaluation and a more straightforward strategy than from intense training. His career has gone through a stretch in which he hasn’t scored any runs. Excessive practice may sometimes be detrimental. He may likely take some time to himself and observe the period of his life during which he had great achievement. Bangar suggested watching certain videos to learn about his routines and habits.

“All of those things might sometimes be quite helpful if you need to get your rhythm back. You must remind yourself of what suits you. He shouldn’t think in such a desperate way,” he said.

During India’s first ODI against England in Nagpur on Thursday, Rohit’s difficulties were once again apparent. Even though India won, the captain’s early removal for only two runs caused further worry, particularly with the Champions Trophy on the horizon.

Rohit was anticipated to settle into the ODI format after a disappointing Test season in which he amassed only 164 runs at an average of 10.93 in eight innings. His difficulties continued even if playing in his birthplace of Nagpur looked like the ideal way to boost his confidence.

Rohit’s decline in form has been a major discussion topic as the Champions Trophy approaches. In important matches, India will need their skipper to be at the top of his game, and his recent performances have further raised questions about his rhythm and confidence.
