Bank of Maharashtra’s Hadapsar branch successfully conducted a Women Empowerment Fortnight from January 25 to February 8, aimed at educating the public about safe investment options such as Recurring Deposits (RD), Fixed Deposits (FD), Public Provident Fund (PPF) and the Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme.

The event also marked two significant milestones: January 25 was the branch’s 65th anniversary and February 8 was the bank’s 90th Business Commencement Day. As part of the celebrations, a traditional Haldi-Kumkum ceremony was organised on February 7, with over 100 women customers and local women participating. The branch honoured them with Haldi-Kumkum as a token of appreciation for their contributions to society.

The event was graced by Amit Chandan, Deputy Zonal Manager of Pune East Zone, Bank of Maharashtra, who addressed the gathering and provided valuable insights on the bank’s initiatives such as RSETI (Rural Self Employment Training Institute), Social Service Schemes and Special Deposit Schemes. He also expressed gratitude for the continued support of customers.

Women attendees appreciated the initiative and praised the bank’s efforts to uphold traditional values while promoting financial awareness. One of the senior customers, Kumudini Vasudev Borate, shared her sentiments: "I have been a loyal customer of Bank of Maharashtra for the past 65 years, and my entire family banks with them. I am truly honoured by this gesture, and I bless the bank for its continued success."

In Maharashtra, Haldi-Kumkum is a cultural tradition observed after Makar Sankranti, symbolising respect and honour for married women. The entire Hadapsar branch team played a key role in organising this event, reaffirming their commitment to blending modern banking services with strong traditional relationships.
