Ananya Panday is one of the rising actors in the Bollywood industry. She made her debut in 2019 with roles in Student of the Year 2 and Pati Patni Aur Woh. While her debut films did not perform well her major breakthrough came when she starred in the Deepika Padukone-starrer Gehraiyaan. The movie took Ananya Pandays acting to the next level. However did you know that there was one film Ananya did not want to do? Despite featuring a famous actor and having a big budget the actress was hesitant about taking up the project. Yes you read that right! Made on a budget of ₹90 crore the film failed to recover its production cost. The movie in question is Liger. Released in 2022 the film hit the big screens under the banner of Karan Johars production house. Alongside Ananya it starred Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. Helmed by Puri Jagannadh the movie was expected to win the audiences hearts but it failed miserably at the box office. Despite being made on a Rs 90 crore budget the movie only managed to earn Rs 60 crore worldwide proving to be a disaster. Both critics and audiences were unimpressed with the storyline. Even before its release Liger was embroiled in massive controversy with many calling it an anti-women film. In a conversation with Mashable India Chunky Panday revealed that Ananya Panday was hesitant before signing Liger. He shared that his daughter had asked him for advice on whether she should take up the film. According to Chunky Ananya felt she was too young for the project. In the same conversation Chunky admitted that despite the movie being a big-budget production he now understands his daughters hesitation. The veteran actor revealed that it was based on his advice that Ananya decided to do the film. On the other hand Ananya shared that when she read the script she felt uncomfortable due to the controversial song and storyline. Chunky Panday who played Ananya Pandays father in the movie stated that he no longer recommends movies to her because Liger turned out to be a complete failure. Talking to Mashable India Chunky Panday said Since that day I have not put any kind of pressure on her. Maybe I was wrong. I am old school. I dont know anything. Apart from Liger the father-daughter duo has never worked together again.
