Infosys fired around 350 freshers at its Mysore campus as they failed to clear the internal assessment, even though they were given three attempts to clear it. According to a report by Times of India (TOI), sources said the assessment was aimed at assessing their proficiency and skills in Java programming and Database Management System (DBMS), for which they needed to score a minimum of 65% marks in each assessment.

When contacted, Infosys said, "At Infosys, we have a rigorous hiring process wherein all freshers are expected to clear an internal assessment, after undergoing extensive foundational training at our Mysore campus. All freshers get three chances to clear the assessment, failing which they will not be able to continue with the organization, as also mentioned in their contract. This process has been in existence for over two decades and ensures the availability of high-quality talent for our clients."

According to a TOI report, when some employees were spoken to on the condition of anonymity, they said, "I was offered a job in 2022, but I got the job only last November, almost two years later. I scored 63% marks, but I could not meet the threshold criteria. I come from Patna and flights are expensive. We were not given any alternate accommodation and were asked to leave by 6 pm."

NITES made these allegations

Harpreet Singh Saluja, president of the IT union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), said these employees have already endured a long wait of two years after receiving their offer letters. "However, today in a completely disrespectful manner, Infosys called these employees to a meeting room at its Mysore campus, where they are being forced to sign 'Mutual Separations' letters under pressure."

'Will complain to Labor Ministry'

Nites said it will file a complaint with the Labor Ministry and seek intervention to help the distressed employees.
