Millions of users across the world have been left furious following a network outage which is stopping users from playing online.
Users of the Playstation Network have reported problems and the outage has affected Playstation store purchases, , account management, and video content. According to the problem began just before midnight on Friday night, with more than 71,000 users reporting the outage to the site. Although users can play offline games, the outage has meant online games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto are unavaliable. According to Sony's PSN status page, the outage has affected platforms including PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, and Web. It said: "We're working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."
Many Playstation users have taken to social media to express their unhappiness. One said: "How much time it takes to fix? It’s been 8h and still doesn’t work?" and "Not PlayStation being down for 10 hours now." While another joked: "If this doesn’t get resolved in the next few hours then I’m selling my ps5 and becoming a pc gamer." Players attempting to log in were met with error messages, and many were left unhappy as they were unable to access their friends list or make purchases on the PlayStation Store. AskPlayStation said on X: "We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN."
Sony said it is actively working to resolve the issues, but has not provided an estimated time for it to be resolved. Many users were less than impressed for the network issues to appear on a Friday night. One user said: "Playstation users going to bed early & unsatisfied on a friday night thanks to maintenance." Someone else added: "PlayStation network being down on a Friday night is officially my 13th reason, goodbye cruel .." Playstation has been approached for comment.
