Lidl is opening nine new stores across the UK this month as it continues .

Four areas will get new state-of-the-art openings, while a further five communities will see a "bigger and better" Lidl re-open following significant investment and upgrades.

confirmed the expansion will result in the creation of hundreds of across the country, with Lidl saying staff benefits will include industry-leading maternity and adoption leave, enhanced holiday entitlement, and an in-store discount.

The latest wave of openings follows its first of 2025 in Northampton, building on the momentum of a string of 10 new store openings in the run up to . These included stores in Bovey Tracey, Hemel Hempstead and Ipswich.

The expansion into more areas comes following Lidl's most successful festive period yet, which saw more than two million more customers shopping at the discounter compared to previous years. Its sales over Christmas exceeded £1 billion for the first time in its 30-year history in the UK, marking a 7% year-on-year rise.

Richard Taylor, Chief Development Officer at Lidl GB, said: "As we begin the new year, we're maintaining our momentum and opening nine state-of-the-art stores, delivering bigger and better shopping experiences to new communities and those we've proudly served for an average of 26 years.

The four brand new Lidl stores opening this month will be based in the following locations:

• Canning Town

• Preston

• Walsall

• Wombourne

The five locations where Lidl will re-open following an upgrade this month are:

• Blantyre

• Cwmbran

• Oldbrook

• Wells

• West Ealing
