Delhi election result 2025: AAP concedes defeat as BJP maintains lead

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday afternoon maintained its lead over the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly election.

The BJP was leading in 23 seats and had won in 24 constituencies, data from the Election Commission showed at 3.15 pm. The Aam Aadmi Party was ahead in 11 constituencies and had won 12.

The halfway mark to gain a majority in the 70-member Assembly is 36 seats.

If the trend holds, the BJP will return to power in Delhi after 26 years.

As of 3.15 pm, Aam Aadmi Party chief was trailing in the New Delhi Assembly constituency, data from the poll panel showed. While Delhi Chief Minister was leading in her seat, former Deputy Chief Minister had lost.

Conceding defeat in a video posted on social media, Kejriwal said that the Aam Aadmi Party has “with great humility”. The Aam Aadmi Party will not only play the role of a constructive Opposition, but also participate in community service, he said.

Kejriwal added that over the past 10 years, the AAP government in the national capital had carried out a lot of work for the people in areas of education, healthcare, electricity, water, and had tried to improve Delhi’s infrastructure.
