The Masked Singer UK finalists should have the best vocals - not the cutest costumes

The sixth season of The Masked Singer UK is approaching its anticipated conclusion on , and fans are determined to guess the characters' identities.

Seven celebrities have already been unmasked. Good Morning Britain's and Bake Off judge Prue Leith were unveiled during the first episode as Spag Bol and Pegasus, respectively. They were followed by 90s pop star Macy Gray and T'Pau star Carol Decker, who were revealed to be the faces behind Toad in the Hole and Tattoo.

Presenter Mel Giedroyc was then unveiled as Teeth before artist Grayson Perry and Irish singer Andrea Corr were unmasked last Saturday (February 1) as Kingfisher and Snail.

It's remarkable to think that just under half of those eliminated celebrities are professional singers, with two of them leaving the competition at such an early stage - who can forget Macy Gray storming off stage after the judges chose to save a lesser vocalist over her?

Now, only five characters remain - Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Pufferfish, and Wolf. From the sound of their voices, it's safe to assume that four of them are singers, while one most certainly is not. So, should they be in the semi-final?

Viewers were left speechless last week when Pufferfish - arguably the strongest vocalist the show's ever seen - found themselves in the bottom three after performing a spellbinding rendition of Barbra Streisand's 1964 musical theatre hit Don't Rain on My Parade.

It was even more surprising that Bush safely made it through the audience vote when their vocal skills vastly differed from their co-stars.

Many fans took to X (formerly ) to share their disapproval of the audience's decision, with one writing: "The best singers are objectively Pufferfish and Dressed Crab, so of course the studio audience put Pufferfish in the bottom three!"

"Pufferfish in the bottom 3 when they're the best singer in the show is WILD," another added, while a third said: "This audience needs to sort their lives out, tbh. Pufferfish is the clear winner, she shouldn't be in the bottom. Bush should have been." (sic)

A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment: "Well, Bush is a fan favourite, managing to beat Macy Gray, Carol Decker, and now Andrea Corr!"

Don't get me wrong—Bush has been a joy to watch, but the longer the series goes on and better singers are eliminated, the less fun it becomes. Yes, the children in the audience will gravitate towards the cuter characters; case in point, Alex Brooker—aka Bigfoot—came second last year over singers such as Lemar, Tiffany, Keala Settle, and Melody Thornton.

Maybe in the future, it could be worth having a separate season with all non-professional singers, but until then, it's clear who should make it all the way to the final. It is The Masked Singer, after all.
