The body of a three-year-old girl who had been missing from the Rafiq Nagar area of Govandi was found in a drain located some distance from her house 48 hours later. Shivaji Nagar police, with the help of the fire brigade, retrieved the body from the drain on Saturday and sent it to Rajawadi Hospital.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as Ayesha Nehal Khan. She lived with her parents and grandmother in the Rafiq Nagar area. According to her grandmother, who filed the complaint, Ayesha's mother had given birth to a baby just ten days ago and was bedridden. On February 6, at around 1:30 pm, Ayesha suddenly disappeared while playing near the house.
When she could not be found despite extensive searches, a missing complaint was lodged at Shivaji Nagar Police Station. The police also reviewed CCTV footage from the area, which showed the girl playing near a 90-foot drain.
Senior Police Inspector Bapurao Deshmukh confirmed that the girl's body has been identified by her family. The police are currently investigating the matter.
According to local residents, the drain is always filled with garbage and is never cleaned. As a result, the girl may have gotten stuck in the waste after falling.
