Unforgotten returns to ITV with a fresh series, reuniting Jess James and Sunny Khan with their dedicated police squad. The discovery of suspected human remains at Whitney Marsh leads to an investigation when it's revealed the body was dismembered before being discarded.

As the plot thickens, viewers meet a host of suspects including Melinda Ricci (MyAnna Buring), a forthright TV commentator based in Ireland, and Martin 'Marty' Baines (Maximilian Fairley), an autistic individual residing with his mother, Dot (Michele Dotrice), in Deal, Kent. Other characters include Asif Syed (Elham Ehsas), an Afghan preparing for his UK citizenship test, and Juliet Cooper (Victoria Hamilton), a History Lecturer and Faculty Head at a London university.

All these characters are deeply intertwined by their histories. Jess, Sunny, and the team must unearth the concealed connections and reveal the true murderer.

While most of the season is set in Ireland, season six was shot in various private homes in Deal, Kent.

Other popular locations included Deal Pier, the beach, The Port Arms and St George's Church, and the Kingsdown Leas. The coastal town of Deal has a rich naval history, and the pier is a notable local feature.

Recent productions filmed in Deal include Pistol, Liar, and Big Boys Don't Cry.

Kingsdown, nestled just along the coast from the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, boasts a hidden shingle beach that has lured film crews for productions such as After Love and Baptiste.

Some scenes were also shot in Wales, and Sanjeev Bhaskar shared his experience filming the marsh scenes: "The marsh was freezing. Absolutely freezing.

"It was the first scene that we did. Boy, we were cold that day. It was thermos flasks and hot water bottles. But also, one of the storylines takes us to Ireland, which we couldn't get to in terms of the whole team, but we shot in Wales."

He added, "Wales was absolutely stunning. It was beautiful there, and we had a couple of Irish actors in the cast who said, 'This is exactly what the bit of Ireland where story is set looks like'.

"I did wonder what the locals thought when a Garda car pulled up in the street. It took ages to get to, but once you were there, it was perfect."
