Sweeping period drama Miss Austen recently starting airing on the . The series is a reimagining of the life of the Pride and Prejudice author and her family taken from the pages of Gill Hornby’s 2020 novel Miss Austen.

The show features a star-studded cast including Keeley Hawes, Rose Leslie, Jessica Hynes, Phyllis Logan and Alfred Enoch.

Audiences are keen to know about some of the other cast members including Max Irons who portrays Mr Henry Hobday in the four-part Regency Era series, reports the

The 39-year-old star is the son of Hollywood A-lister and English actor Jeremy Irons and Irish acting veteran Sinéad Cusack.

He is part of the Cusack acting dynasty and counts Father Brown actress Sorcha Cusack, The Tower’s Niamh Cusack and Catherine Cusack as aunts, while his Miss Austen co-star Calam Lynch - who is also known for Bridgerton - is his first cousin.

Irons attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, before going on to star in Red Riding Hood and The Host.

Some of his other film credits include The Riot Club, Woman in Gold, The Wife and Bitter Harvest.

While his TV projects include The White Queen, ’s Tutankhamun, Condor and The Little Drummer Girl. According to IMDb, Irons is slated to be starring as Mycroft Holmes in the forthcoming series Young Sherlock.

Away from the screen, he is married to Tatler’s Creative Director Sophie Pera.

The pair tied the knot at a sweet, evening ceremony in Oxfordshire in 2019 after they started dating back in 2013.

She previously wrote an article for Tatler detailing her struggles with finding the right outfit for her big day and admitted she was more enamoured with tuxedos than dresses.

Sophie revealed how she even considered red or black as potential outfit colours, running them past Max and her mother who seemed less enthusiastic about her bold, unconventional bridal sartorial choices.

However, she changed her mind after falling in love with a dramatic Vivienne Westwood number and donned a big white gown for her candle-lit nuptials.

She revealed back in February 2023 on she was expecting their first child, posting: “SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND. Due any day now.”

However, the couple remain quite private and little is known about their family.

Although Max doesn’t use social media, Sophie has showcased her impressive work styling for the fashion magazine.

She was previously the Fashion Editor & Town & Country.

Miss Austen airs on BBC One on Sundays at 9.05pm and is streaming as a boxset on BBC iPlayer now
