West Indies cricketing legend Chris Gayle has come in support of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who is currently going through a lean patch of his career. The last century scored by the 36-year-old was in Australia during the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
After struggling against Australia, Kohli featured for Delhi in a Ranji Trophy match against Railways, where he got dismissed after scoring just 6 runs. Following the dismal performance in Ranji Trophy, Virat was named in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against England. He missed the first match due to a knee injury, and appeared in the second match, but got dismissed cheaply.
Former West Indies great cricketer Chris Gayle, who has played along with Kohli for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has slammed the critics of Indians. In an exclusive conversation with Sports ThanksChris Gayle has stated that Kohli is the best cricketer in the world.
“He is the best cricketer in the world. There is no debate on that. Sometimes people forget what he has done for the country and go after him, but that is not required,” Chris Gayle told Sports Thanks.
After the white-ball series against England comes to an end, the batting maestro will feature for India in the Champions Trophy 2025. His form is going to play an important role in India’s performance in the highly-anticipated event. Indian team will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 19.
