Bangladesh Woman Cricketer: This has happened for the first time in women's cricket when a player has been banned in terms of match fixing. Bangladesh cricketer Shoheli Akhtar has been banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for 5 years.

How was it revealed?

Shoheli Akhtar was accused of attempting match fixing during the 2023 T20 World Cup. However, she herself was not playing in this tournament, but she contacted one of her fellow players for fixing. This conversation was revealed when that player informed the ICC's Anti Corruption Unit (ACU). During the investigation, it was found that Shoheli had tried to persuade his fellow player through social media to convince him to fix the match.

Match fixing offer and greed for 20 lakh taka

According to reports, Shoheli told his fellow player that his brother is involved in cricket betting and he had offered 20 lakh Bangladeshi Taka (about Rs 15 lakh) to get out of 'hit wicket' in Bangladesh vs Australia match. Shoheli had also said that if this amount seems less then he can be paid more money, as well as it was advisable to maintain confidentiality and delete all messages.

The player did not bow down, made a big disclosure

The player who was offered this offer not only rejected it but immediately informed the ICC's anti -corruption unit (ACU). After this, ACU investigated deeply and collected concrete evidence against Shoheli. Investigation also revealed that Shoheli had violated five ICC rules to match fixing.

Shoheli confesses crime, ICC's tough decision

Shoheli Akhtar accepted the allegations leveled under the ICC's anti -corruption code. After this, the ICC blamed him and banned cricket for 5 years. This ban will be applicable from 10 February 2025.

Big shock for women's cricket

This case is a big setback for women's cricket, because earlier there was no case of any such corruption in women's cricket. This strict action of the ICC gives a strict message to any player from being involved in activities like match fixing in future.

Initiative to keep cricket clean

Cricket is called a Gentleman game, but cases like fixing have tainted it many times. This action of ICC is proof that corruption will not be tolerated at any level of cricket.
