The British band, who became a phenomenon in the world in the 1960s, won the Grammy Award almost five decades since their iconic breakup in 1970. Their recent win through Now and Then, a song completed and released in 2024 by the surviving members of the band – Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr – was their first recognition from the Grammy Awards since 1997.

The track that won the Best Rock Performance award at the 2025 Grammys features the original vocals of John Lennon, recorded in 1970 and preserved using advanced artificial intelligence technology. The song also incorporates guitar recordings by the late George Harrison from the 1990s. The win for The Beatles came 55 years after the band broke up, further showing how their music could stand the test of time across generations.

Now and Then is actually referred to as “the last Beatles song” by Paul McCartney, since the song was able to gather all four original members’ contributions after decades of separation. Sean Ono Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, accepted the Grammy on behalf of the band during the Grammys Premiere Ceremony. He expressed his admiration for The Beatles’ lasting impact on culture, stating, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s the greatest band of all time.”

Added to the band’s rich Grammy history are their initial two awards during 1965: Best New Artist and Best Performance by a Vocal Group in the classic smash hit A Hard Day’s Night. More than half a century after its music, The Beatles still continue touching the hearts and minds of audience members, one of the influences in the development of music at all time ever.
