After a tough start to his second tenure with a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the , the former manager has led the Toffees to three consecutive Premier League wins against Hotspur, , and City. Should Moyes help avoid relegation this season, it will be a similar story to his first spell with the Merseyside club in 2002.
He was appointed at Goodison Park after a successful stint with Preston North End. He immediately helped the Toffees escape relegation from the Premier League. This was the beginning of a long love affair between Moyes and Everton that lasted 10 seasons, including a fourth-place finish and an FA Cup runners-up medal.
Yet, many things have happened to Moyes, including a doomed stint at Manchester United shortly after replacing Sir . Ahead of the Merseyside Derby, Mirror Football takes a look at his career so far.

David Moyes' net-worthAccording to Celebrity Net Worth, Moyes’ has amassed a net worth of around £20.2million. Apart from his earnings through various managerial stints at different clubs, the sale of his Preston mansion in 2019 has also significantly contributed to his fortunes.
The property included seven bedrooms, a gym and 76 acres of land. Reportedly, the Everton boss bought this mansion from ex-Preston North End director Sean Keogh for a price of £3.6 million in 2006 during his first stint with the Toffees.
Thirteen years later, he sold the property for a reported fee of £4.3 million to a wealthy family, with the house’s value rising due to different renovations made to it.
Libel case against Wayne RooneyThings weren’t always rosy for Moyes during his first tenure at Everton both on and off the field. The Scotsman got into a legal dispute with former player after the latter’s sale to Manchester United in 2004.
Extracts from Rooney’s 2006 autobiography "Wayne Rooney- My Story so far," saw the Red Devils legend accuse Moyes of driving him out of Everton. The details were then leaked to the press, which was later published by the Daily Mail.
As a result Moyes responded to these allegations by suing Rooney and his publishers for Libel, with lawyer Edward Parladorio representing him. The ex-Manchester United star and his legal team apologised to the Scotsman and both parties agreed to settle things out of court.
Marriage to Pamela MoyesThere isn’t much information surrounding Moyes’ relationship with his wife Pamela. According to the , David and Pamela met nearly 30 years ago in a disco at the Winnock Hotel in Drymen, Stirlingshire.
It was love at first sight from his partner’s end, Moyes has previously claimed, and they soon got married and had two children - a daughter, Lauren, and a son, David Jnr. Pamela has been a strong source of support for David during the tough periods of his career.
The ex-West Ham manager has gone on record to say that she played a crucial role in him renewing his contract with Everton during the 2008/09 campaign, when things were uncertain due to different issues surrounding the club. The Scotsman said: "My wife said to me, 'Get your contract signed and get on with it'. People were starting to think it had something to do with uncertainty over my future, using it as an excuse but 'Just get on with it' is very Scottish advice."
Vicki Sparks controversyThe Everton manager found himself in hot water during his stint with after he made inappropriate comments towards Sport’s Vicki Sparks. During an interview with Sparks after a goalless draw against , the Scotsman was heard saying: "It was getting a wee bit naughty at the end there so just watch yourself. You still might get a slap even though you’re a woman. Careful the next time you come in.”
His comments were met with much criticism from all quarters, with TV presenter Alison Bender alleging that even though this situation was a bit tricky, it wasn’t the first time she had heard him direct hurtful comments toward women off-camera.
Moyes would go on to apologise for his remarks to Sparks, with the Association investigating the ordeal. In June of the same year, he was fined £30,000 for the comments following a verdict from an independent panel.
