Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has been an inspiration for actors across generations. His discipline lifestyle and commitment to work has made him active in films over the decades. Even starring in over 150 films and giving more than 50 hits the 82-year-old star posses the same enthusiasm and dedication in his work. Big B started his career in 1969 as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sens Bhuan Shome. His first acting project was Saat Hindustani (1969) in which he played one of the seven protagonists in Khwaja Ahmad Abbass directorial. By the mid and late 1970 Amitabh became one of the biggest film personalities Indian screen has ever seen. He reportedly gave 11-12 consecutive flops before Zanjeer became a hit. Released in cinemas on May 11 1973 The Prakash Mehra directorial proved to become the breakthrough film for him. The film was superhit in India grossing over Rs 17 crore worldwide. Before Amitabh Bachchan several superstars including Dharmendra Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand were approached for Zanjeer but they all rejected it due to several reasons. Then finally Salim-Javed the iconic writer duo suggested Big Bs name after watching his impressive performance in Bombay To Goa. Ultimately Amitabh Bachchans portrayal in Zanjeer not only revived his career but also made him one of the iconic and influential actors in the history of Indian cinema.
